Ryuji Shinzo
Attorney Apprentice
Once a former Wild Card with a criminal background, he grew up in the harsh streets of Prologia, a rough, crime-ridden area where survival often meant bending the law. He was a descendant of Wonderlandians who had fled the Jabberwocky rampage and bombings. Despite the dark nature of his environment, he maintained a strong moral compass and a good heart, though circumstances forced him into shady dealings, including robbery and acting as a bystander in gang conflicts. His life took a drastic turn when a renowned news reporter was murdered, and his own gang members framed him as the prime suspect.

However, with the help of defense attorney Antonio Sato and his nephew Kotaro, he was declared not guilty. The bravery and unwavering sense of justice displayed by the two inspired him to sever ties with his troubled past. Determined to forge a new path, he became Antonio’s assistant attorney, providing a fresh start for both himself and his younger brother, with the vision of leaving behind the chaos of his old life.

Relationships
Wataru Shinzo
Since the death of their parents, Ryuji had taken on the responsibility of raising his younger brother, Wataru. Their parents had fallen victim to the brutal streets, leaving the two boys to navigate the world alone. Despite growing up in the dark alleys of Underland, Wataru, like his older brother, always managed to see the good in life. For Ryuji, every step toward change felt like one step forward and two steps back, as the weight of their circumstances constantly pulled him down. Yet, through it all, Wataru remained his beacon of hope—the little light that made the struggle worthwhile.
With his first paycheck as an apprentice at Sato Law Office, Ryuji bought Wataru his first schoolbag and all the supplies he needed, a symbol of the better future he envisioned for his brother. However, despite the passing years, Wataru remained unusually small for his age, making Ryuji wonder if he would ever outgrow his clothes. Perhaps it was their Wonderlandian heritage keeping him from growing.
Kotaro Sato
Meeting the curious green-haired boy was fate—Ryuji is certain of that, and he will hold onto that belief until the end of his life. As a child, while carrying out his usual gang chores, Ryuji crossed paths with Kotaro and his uncle on the Main Street of Underland, where they were conducting a private investigation. Wild Cards were always warned never to engage with investigators, "pigs" as they called them, but something about the two made Ryuji ignore that rule. He felt compelled to help them. From that moment on, Kotaro became a frequent visitor to Underland, sneaking in whenever he could just to hang out with Ryuji.
But fate had another twist in store. When Ryuji was suddenly arrested, there was no hope for him—no one would waste their time defending the so-called scum of the city, let alone someone accused of murdering an authority figure. Crushed under the weight of sorrow and uncertainty, he could only sink into the filth of the life he had always known.
Until Kotaro and his uncle, without a second thought, chose to stand by him in court.
Their bravery, and determination—it shook Ryuji to his core. And in that moment, something ignited within him, a fire he had never felt before. The fire of justice.

Antonio Sato
Kotaro’s uncle and Ryuji's employer. Antonio often approaches Ryuji at random times, sits in front of the tiny desk near the office entrance, and asks him to list impossible things to start the day. “Any impossible things?” Ryuji replies, making this exchange a daily routine between them. Without fail, Antonio always responds, “Just six of ’em!”—yet Ryuji barely makes it to the sixth, sometimes not even the third.
The irony isn’t lost on him. Back in Underland, he could have listed a hundred, no, a million impossible things without hesitation. The mere thought of escaping the darkness of the streets had once been one of them. Now, he is certain Antonio is trying to remind him that no two days are the same—new impossible things might happen, and others may prove possible if he works hard and never gives up.
Or perhaps Antonio, the often chaotic man who naps during work hours or leaves the office just to pester his nephew on his day off, is simply a forgetful troublemaker at heart.

Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh is a supernova—bright, explosive, and impossible to ignore. The golden boy of Prologia’s high society is Ryuji’s total opposite in appearance and upbringing, yet their bond defies those differences.

Despite his privileged background, Gil has always had his heart in the right place, never once making Ryuji feel like he was anything less. That might have been easier than expected, though, considering Gil’s parents cut off his money supply, forcing him to take on all sorts of mini-jobs to afford his signature bling-bling.

Peter Pan
Barkeeper of the Jolly Roger. Once a familiar figure lurking in the alleys of Underland, Peter was nothing more than a stray cat—always chasing after games, challenges, and, occasionally, shady dealings, most likely in pursuit of a way out of the slums.
Years after Ryuji’s trial and his transition into an apprentice of law, he often finds himself visiting the Jolly Roger with Antonio after work. To his surprise, Peter has transformed into a well-respected figure along the shores of Prologia, no longer a street rat but the co-owner of the bar—alongside his business partner Captain Hook.

Queen Liz
Ryuji’s cousin, Liz, is a frequent suspect in all sorts of crime scenes, though she tends to operate within the tamer side of the Wild Card gangs. Always looking for an easy way out of her chaotic shenanigans, she shamelessly tries to use Ryuji’s position as an attorney to her advantage—because, as she loves to remind him, “Family sticks together, right?”
Her entrances into Sato’s office are anything but conventional; whether it’s through the window, the roof, or by some absurd use of Wonderland magic, Liz always finds a way to make an entrance. But beneath her mischief lies a deeper truth—at one point, she held Ryuji’s threads of fate in her hands, using what power she could in Underland to ensure his safety and well-being. Yet, as a leader, she had to maintain a level of authority and avoid favoritism, no matter how much she wanted to protect him.
Ryuji knows what she did for him, though she remains unaware of that fact. And one day, he intends to pay her back for it.
